An event every week that begins at 6:00 pm on Thursday, repeating until November 10, 2022
Jazz on the River is a free outdoor music event that takes place every Thursday from 6:00 – 9:00 PM at the West Columbia Riverwalk Park and
Amphitheater. The event, presented in partnership with the ColaJazz Foundation, provides the Columbia community with live jazz music, food and drinks on the scenic Congaree River.
“We want to bring together two of the coolest things about our city – our beautiful rivers and our thriving music and art culture,” says Sean Powers, Founder of Jazz on the River.
The ColaJazz Foundation is a community-minded nonprofit organization that aims to be the driving beat in jazz education, performance, and outreach providing opportunities for all.ColaJazz strives to serve the Midlands community, create culturally enriching programs and
entertainment, and make our capital city of Columbia a premiere jazz destination in the southeast.
“Jazz on the River is an exciting outdoor live jazz series set on the banks of the Congaree River and where you can enjoy adult beverages and killer local food trucks with friends, family andyour dog! This second season of Jazz on the River showcases an amazing lineup of our top
local artists presenting everything from burning straight ahead jazz to latin grooves, funk, fusion, blues, R&B, traditional jazz and more.
Nothing builds community more than a free outdoor event and especially one that is based on jazz,” says Mark Rapp, Executive Director of the ColaJazz Foundation.
Jazz on the River would not be possible without our amazing patron, Sandy McGuckin. Through
her generous dedication of time, promotion, and sponsorship, Sandy has been essential to
allowing us to host this free community event.
Sandy dedicates her patronage of Jazz on the River to her father, George Buxton. A longtime
jazz musician, he inspired a love of art, music, and life in Sandy that lives on to this day.
