Gillian Kohn is a jazz singer based out of Charleston, South Carolina.
She was nominated for “Best Female Vocalist” in the Charleston City Paper’s “Best Of 2020” competition.
With a varied repertoire spanning the decades, from early Jazz standards to Classic Chanson to Swing Era and Bossa Nova hits, Gillian will take you on a musical journey back in time. Should it be a 1950s cocktail hour, a roarin’ Gatsby-themed bash, or just an intimate dinner party with friends, she is well-suited and versatile.
Gillian grew up in Hartsville, South Carolina, where she happily spent her childhood in the wings of her local, community theater – doing both her homework and dreaming of Broadway’s bright lights. At an early age, Gillian was determined to study the classics.
Monty Craig teaches jazz guitar and jazz combos at Clemson University. He is a well-known and respected jazz guitarist and band leader. Monty studied at the University of South Carolina with classical guitarist Christopher Berg and jazz guitarist Jim Mings. He also attended the Berklee College of Music to study with guitarists Al Defino, Brett Wilmont, Randy Roos, and saxophonist George Garzone.
Monty was a member of the prestigious United States Army Band of New York City. In New York City he also performed regularly with numerous local musicians and received intensive training with his two most important musical mentors—Verve recording artist Kurt Rosenwinkle and Ben Monder, best known for his work as guitarist with The Maria Schneider Jazz Orchestra.
