The leader of JAZZ DOG hails from Atlanta. Joe Jay moved to Columbia in 1999. General contractor by day and wanna be musician by night. Love the local music scene and do what I can to help keep it thriving. Have a warehouse downtown complete with woodshop for his construction business and a rehearsal studio. Latest project Jazz Dog is sax, flute, djembe, bass, guitar, drums, percussion, and of course keys. Free form and open ended structure.
Joe says, “After meeting the Dali Lama, I was put on a path of total happiness under the instruction to always remember the fundamental law of ‘What is the sound of one hand clapping?’ Play less, listen more and don’t stare at your shoes on stage.”
