The Mark Rapp Group is calling The Aristocrat their home for JAZZ on Thursday nights! The vibe is amazing at The Aristocrat. When the room is full of the sounds of jazz, there’s nothing better!
Intentionally having a later performance time, we are thoughtfully aiming to offer an awesome jazz happening which does not directly compete with earlier jazz gigs on Thursday nights. Importantly, we want to have a venue alive with people when the earlier gigs let out. We want YOU to have a place to continue your night and have a blast with us!

ABOUT MARK RAPP
Trumpeter, composer, arranger, didgeridoo player, recording and touring artist Mark Rapp is South Carolina’s Jazz Ambassador and Founder & Director of the ColaJazz Foundation. Rapp has performed with such distinct artists from Branford Marsalis to country music star Darius Rucker. Rapp has released 8 diverse recordings, and is featured on the closing track of Disney’s “Everybody Wants to be a Cat“. Artists such as Roy Hargrove, Dave Brubeck, Esperanza Spalding, The Bad Plus, Joshua Redman and more are also featured on this CD. Rapp’s celebrated 2009 debut release “Token Tales” (Paved Earth Music), earned him a spot as one of the “Top 25 Emerging Trumpeters” in Downbeat Magazine. His release “Good Eats” (Dinemec Jazz) had critics saying, “Rapp is quickly developing a reputation as a superb interpreter and great stylist, willing to tackle the history of this music with his eyes on the past and his mind on the present and future of this music.” – AllAboutJazz.com. Rapp is a featured artist in Mellen Press’ “How Jazz Trumpeters Understand Their Music” among a prestigious list including Terence Blanchard, Lew Soloff, Freddie Hubbard, Tim Hagans, Dave Douglas and more. Rapp co-created and was CEO of intotheShed.com (2012-2015), an online live lessons platform servicing GRAMMY-award winners and other the top artists in jazz today. Rapp also composed and produced a jazz ballet Woven: Life in Notes and Steps.

Mark was featured at Cirque du Soleil’s opening gala for KA in Las Vegas and invited by Guy Laliberte to perform for his birthday. Mark has been guest soloist with Big Bands, recorded as a special guest artist on CDs, played in the United Nations Symphony Orchestra, and has had many jazz greats perform in his bands including bassist James Genus (Herbie Hancock, Brecker Brothers, Saturday Night Live, Aretha Franklin), Walter Blanding, Jr, Don Braden, Wycliffe Gordon, Nate Smith, Clerence Penn, Wess “Warmdaddy” Anderson and many others.

The Aristocrat is a gastropub inspired by our southern heritage, love for fine wine, craft cocktails, and engaging dishes. We strive to connect the time-honored tradition of wining and dining with modern ingredients and innovative recipes. The menu will have a southern accent and delivered with exceptional service in a comfortable and casual gathering pocket. This is all delivered through the vision of our executive chef, Alex Mendez and our General Manager Mason Crowson.

The Aristocrat also offers private event space available for groups up to 50 people. The Aristocrat is a collaboration between Alex Mendez and Mason Crowson of Shelly Properties LLC. Alex and Mason have worked together for many years at wineries and other varying establishments. Chef Alex has made a name for himself working throughout the state of Texas by being creative with ingredients and presentation on a multitude of levels. Mason is a native of Bryan Texas and has operated restaurants with legendary restaurateurs like Chuck Chriswell and Bill Greenwood.
