1223 (for two percussionists) is a recent work written by Chicago based drummer and composer Tim
Daisy. The composition is scored for two drum sets plus various small cymbals and found objects.

Balancing fixed themes with open sections of improvisation, and set into a modular form, 1223 aims to
create a clear sonic identity while at the same time, leaving room for the performers to shape the work
as it moves throughout each performance.
The debut performance of 1223 will take place on September 24th, 2022 at the 701 Center for
Contemporary Art in Columbia. Tim Daisy will perform the work along with Columbia’s own Michael
Crawford.
1223 is dedicated to Wilhelmus Louis Henricus Roefs, Passionate advocate and stalwart of the Midlands arts community.
