This week in Jazz, vocalist Dinah Washington was born on August 29, 1924 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. She traded her birth name, Ruth Lee Jones while, singing her first gig in Chicago. In 1986, Dinah Washington was inducted into the Alabama Jazz Hall of Fame.
