Find Your Rhythm: A Free "Jazz for Kids" Field Trip Experience

Presented by the ColaJazz Foundation

Jazz is a conversation, a history lesson, and a celebration of being uniquely yourself. At ColaJazz, we believe every child deserves the chance to connect with an art form that opens doors to creativity, empathy, and a broader worldview.

We are inviting your students to step out of the classroom and into the rhythm of the Koger Center for the Arts for a world-class, interactive jazz experience.

Our Promise: We are committed to removing every barrier to the arts. This program is 100% free for your school. The ColaJazz Foundation will cover all admission costs and all busing/travel expenses.

The Logistics

  • Date: Monday, March 9, 2026

  • Time: 10:30 AM – 11:30 AM

  • Location: Koger Center for the Arts

  • Cost: Free (Busing costs fully reimbursed by ColaJazz)

More Than a Concert

We want your students to feel, move, and understand. This is a comprehensive educational experience designed to spark curiosity and instill a sense of pride in our shared culture.

The Program Includes:

  • Living History: We explore jazz history from its deep roots in the American South to its global influence today, with a special spotlight on South Carolina’s own legendary contributions to the genre.

  • Interactive Learning: This is not a "sit still and listen" event. We incorporate dance lessons, singing, and visual aids to engage high-energy learners.

  • Social-Emotional Connection: Through stories and life lessons woven into the music, we show students how jazz encourages them to be uniquely themselves while collaborating with others.

  • Diverse Styles: Students will journey through Swing, Latin, and Vocal Jazz, expanding their understanding of musical diversity.

Why This Matters

For many students, this may be their first time in a major performing arts center or their first exposure to live jazz. We aim to inspire them, excite them, and perhaps change the way they see the world—and their place in it.

Let’s give your students a field trip they will remember for the rest of their lives.
