Loft Session: BERT LIGON QUARTET

Event description

MONDAY, MARCH 23rd
Emmy-Nominated Composer Bert Ligon to Headline Next Loft Session

ColaJazz is proud to feature Bert Ligon, immediate past Director of Jazz Studies at the University of South Carolina, for our upcoming Loft Session on March 23, 2026.

Renowned globally for his definitive texts on jazz theory, Ligon’s session will focus exclusively on his original compositions—a rare opportunity to hear the creative output of a musician who has spent decades shaping the next generation of jazz artists.

The quartet, featuring Tim Leahey, Craig Butterfield, and Edwin G. Hamilton, will perform works ranging from Ligon's early award-winning pieces to his most recent commissions. Join us at the Pastor’s Study Loft for an evening of sophisticated, diverse, and masterful musicianship.

ABOUT THE COLAJAZZ LOFT SESSIONS

There is a difference between hearing music and experiencing it.

At the ColaJazz Loft Sessions, we specialize in the latter. Nestled in a chic loft high above Main Street, we have created Columbia’s dedicated space for the hip, the cool, and the curious.

Forget the crowded bars and the noise. This is an intimate listening room where the sophisticated ambiance meets a soulful atmosphere. With a rotating lineup of incredible talent, every month brings a fresh sound and a new story.

The catch? Seating is intimate and very limited to preserve the experience. The reward? An unforgettable night of culture and community.
