jazz album of the week

This week we feature a beautiful recording by 2 of the most important jazz musicians of all time, "The Art Tatum-Ben Webster Quartet"!

Recorded in 1956 on the Verve label, this meeting of the minds features pianist Art Tatum and saxophonist Ben Webster in a set of familiar standards. Although Tatum can be heard playing through most of Ben Websters solo's, this recording is still a thing of beauty. As Tatum often played solo piano as opposed to with a group, this effort still comes out as a success. Do not skip this one.

Personnel:

Art Tatum-piano

Ben Webster-tenor saxophone

Red Callender- bass

Bill Douglass-drums
