Jazz for Young People Concerts

On a Friday morning in June, about 700 kids from the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Midlands and the Boys & Girls Club of Kershaw County experienced jazz music! They learned about the history of jazz, the different instruments and the sounds they make, and how jazz brings us together. The concert was a collaboration between ColaJazz, the Koger Center, and the Boys & Girls Clubs. This is the first of many “Jazz for Young People” concerts being offered to our children of Columbia, SC and throughout our State. Our next concerts are on October 21st for middle schoolers in partnership with the Communities In Schools of the Midlands and November 8 for 3rd graders in partnership with Richland One. Notably, we will see over 2000 kids in attendance on Nov 8th!Our concerts feature ColaJazz ensembles ranging from quartets to our Little Big Band: the band that could!

"It was amazing!
