What is Juneteenth?
Juneteenth (short for "June Nineteenth") marks the day in 1865 when federal troops arrived in Galveston, Texas, to ensure that all enslaved people be freed. This came a full two and a half years after the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation.
Today, Juneteenth is a federal holiday—a day to honor African American freedom, celebrate resilience, and reflect on the ongoing journey toward equality. There’s no better way to honor that legacy than through the universal language of music!
We can't wait to see you at Finlay Park!
