Jazz at Lincoln Center Visits Columbia

ColaJazz in partnership with the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Midlands, the Auntie Karen Foundation and Jazz at Lincoln Center presented their 2nd after-school jazz enrichment workshop with some amazing kids at Midway Elementary in Cassatt, SC (a small town located 1-hour outside of Columbia). ColaJazz was chosen to offer the Jazz at Lincoln Center pilot program and is an integral part in fine tuning their curriculum.

“ColaJazz is passionately committed to educating our young people regardless of their socioeconomic status, preserving and advancing Jazz music, supporting and growing our jazz community and making Columbia and our State a thriving and culturally rich environment. We could not be more thrilled to partner with the world’s leading jazz organization Jazz at Lincoln Center and present their efforts here in SC,” said Mark Rapp, ColaJazz founder and CEO.

This week, a J@LC representative came to Columbia, SC to meet with all of us, observe the class and enjoy some great spots in Columbia including Lula Drake, Motor Supply, The Whig, and Kaminsky’s. The stars were aligning on us this day as chance meeting after chance meeting brought J@LC in contact with venue owners, local jazz stars, legislators, jazz supporters, friends, and community personalities. It was an incredible day and night of bringing jazz to the schools and showing off a small taste of Columbia.
