jazz album of the week

This week we feature a gem by unsung tenor saxophonist Tina Brooks, "Back to The Tracks"!

Recorded on the Blue Note Label in 1960, this record was shelved until its 1998 for unknown reasons. 1 of 4 albums Brooks made under his own name (only 1 being released during his lifetime), this set features an all star cast playing mostly Brook's originals plus a beautiful version of "For Heavens Sake". This sessions also took place in conjunction with alto man Jackie Mclean's recording of "Jackies Bag".

Personnel:

Tina Brooks- tenor saxophone

Blue Mitchell- trumpet

Jackie Mclean- alto saxophone (track 2 only)

Kenny Drew- piano

Paul Chambers- bass

Art Taylor- drums
