jazz album of the week

This week we feature a record lead by drummer Elvin Jones, "Elvin!"

Recorded in 1961 on the Riverside Label, this date features Elvin surrounded by an all-star group including the full Jones Brothers cast, Hank Jones and Thad Jones. Featuring originals by Thad, Ernie Wilkins, and the Rogers and Hart classic "You Are Too Beautiful", this a beautifully arranged effort from all parties. With Elvin's brushwork, Hank's pianistic perfection, and Thad's compositional lyricism, this album is one you should not miss.
