This Week in Jazz: Jelly Roll Morton

This week in Jazz we present an American Pianist born Ferdinand Joseph Lamothe; known professionally as Jelly Roll Morton (1890-1941). On July 17, 1923, he recorded one of the very first integrated recording sessions with the New Orleans Rhythm Kings. Jelly Roll Morton is widely regarded as the first innovator of modern day jazz in the 1920s.
