jazz album of the week
This week we feature an album by tenor saxophonist Illinois Jacquet, "Swings The Thing"!
Recorded in 1957 on he Verve Label, this feel-good session features Jacquet playing at his very best. Surrounded by a top tier group, this album features blues, standards, and a very beautiful version of "Autumn Nocturne". As if it was his last day on Earth, Jacquet delivers a perfect amount of swing and soulfulness that makes this an essential recording!
