This week we feature an album by lesser-known tenor saxophonist Sal Nistico, "Heavyweights"!

Recorded in 1961 on the Jazzland Label, this debut by Woody Herman tenor saxophonist and Syracuse NY native features a strong and swinging set of originals and standards. Accompanied by a few all stars as well as fellow Upstate NYer Vinnie Ruggiero, Nistico comes out swinging from beginning to end in a strong display of power. If you haven't heard of Sal Nistico, change that.
