jazz album of the week
Speaking of Presidents Day, let's celebrate THE President this week with a 1956 recording by Lester Young, "The President Plays with The Oscar Peterson Trio"!
Recorded in 1956 on the Norgran (later Verve) label, this album features some essential jazz material to all regardless of instrument. Lester Young is playing beautifully and melodically backed by the Oscar Peterson trio. With a mix of mid tempo, up tempo, and ballads, this recording is an essential listen. After listening, you will see why Lester Young is aptly named "Prez".
